Road safety and mobility research in virtual reality

Virtual reality (VR) is gaining increasing importance in the context of road safety research. On behalf of the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt), the possible applications of VR headsets were therefore investigated and criteria for their use in research projects were defined. By expanding mobility research into virtual reality, additional possibilities arise for investigating pedestrian behaviour in road traffic.
