Acoustic effectiveness of sound insulation in homes

The specifications of the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) aim to minimise traffic noise and ensure adequate noise protection in homes. On behalf of the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) it has now been investigated whether the correction factor for windows added so far meets the current requirements. A more precise determination of this correction factor should help to make the sound insulation of road traffic even more effective in the future.

In order to continue to ensure adequate noise protection in homes, the results of the study will be presented to the responsible committees for discussion. It is desirable to implement this within the framework of a revision of the 24th Ordinance for the Implementation of the BImSchG (Traffic Route Noise Protection Measures Ordinance - 24th BImSchV).
