Level of equipment of driver assistance systems in passenger cars continues to rise

Safety systems integrated into passenger cars play an important role in accident prevention and in reducing the consequences of road accidents. Information on the market penetration of vehicle safety systems is provided by the surveys of car owners commissioned by the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) every 2 years since 2013. The results of the 2019 survey show a positive development. In the individual vehicle segments, however, the level of equipment with driver assistance systems varies. The extension of the survey to the vehicle category motorbikes, which was integrated into the study as a pilot project, is considered sensible. The concept for a survey in the segment of goods vehicles and buses, which was also developed, is to be implemented in form of a pilot study.
