The Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) is the practice-oriented, technical-scientific research institution of the Federal Ministry of Transport. The multifaceted relationships between roads, people and the environment are the focus of our work.
As a technical-scientific research institute with highly qualified staff in more than 40 different subject areas, we have research facilities that are unique in the world. We have around 400 employees - including about 200 scientists from various disciplines: Engineering, physics, geology, biology, chemistry, computer science and mathematics, business and economics, law, medicine, education, sociology and psychology.
We work on research projects at national and international level and are represented in many committees where the course is set for the transport of the future.
