Why BASt?

I applied to BASt in late 2006 to cooperate in the international project "Driving under the Influence of Drugs, Alcohol and Medicines" (DRUID). The contact was made through TÜV Rheinland, where I had previously been employed. I was offered good conditions, and initially a temporary contract.

I received a permanent contract with BASt in May 2012.

Tasks and activities with BASt

First, I was employed in the department "traffic psychology, traffic medicine”; there, I was given the task of the project manager for DRUID, and I was responsible for communications, reporting, in fact, for all administrative and financial matters. I have worked in DRUID in this role for five years. I’ve been active in cooperation with Russian research institutes since 2007. I was appointed Secretary General of FERSI (Forum of the European Road Safety Research Institutes) in September 2011. Since February 2012, I have also been working for the department "research control and quality management".

I thus have two priorities: international operations and management, including project management.

Support from BASt

I especially value the social component at BASt. BASt is committed to the well-being of its employees. Collaboration with my colleagues is fun and has made my start considerably easier.

Integration into BASt from the perspective of a post-doctoral researcher from abroad

My superiors in the department "traffic psychology, traffic medicine” have always supported and promoted me. The working atmosphere has been supportive and very pleasant from the first day; that has not changed to this day. I am having similar, positive experiences in my new work environment, in the department "research control and quality management".
