Why BASt?

I had contact to BASt since the end of my studies, but only as a client for research projects. At the end of 2008 the opportunity was offered to participate in an EU project of BASt in the area of surface properties, and I applied for a temporary job.

After completion of the project I was employed on a permanent basis, and made civil servant in early 2012.

Tasks and activities with BASt

Meanwhile, my tasks here are very diverse: Starting with technical mentoring of external research projects, through co-mentoring and further development of measurement systems of the department, development of regulations and standards related to this topic in national and European bodies, as well as implementation of research results in the (construction) practice . In addition to theoretical work in the office, I also lead experiments in the practice, so I am acquainted with both aspects.

Support from BASt

I received friendly and open welcome from my colleagues, and I felt comfortable from the first day here. Furthermore, I take advantage of the various sport offers of BASt in my spare time, for example, basketball and football. This facilitates integration after a move to a new city.
