Why BASt?

I learned about BASt during my time as a student and a researcher at the Technical University of Dresden, participating in external research projects, and through participation in committees of FSGV (Institute for Transport Studies).

The department "specialized centre asset management road” was re-established in the BASt in 2010. There I got a temporary job. I particularly enjoyed participating in the organization of that new department, and working on multidisciplinary topics in that field. I have been working for the department "road design, traffic flow, traffic control” since 2012.

Tasks and activities with BASt

My duties currently include independent handling of internal research projects, as well as mentoring external research projects. The results make a significant contribution to the decision-making on current issues, and form the basis for future regulations. My tasks also include creation of research reports and presentation of research results in national and international environment.

Support from BASt

My colleagues welcomed me warmly, so that I felt comfortable from the start. They helped me to familiarize myself with the work-related topics, as well as with the administrative issues.

I also received support for my PhD, in addition to my work as a research assistant. BASt itself also offers excellent research opportunities in the technical literature through a very extensive library, knowledge bases and comprehensive magazine series. The broad base of BASt, with its many contacts in each department, has also a high value.

The extensive (off-duty) sports offer not only ensures the necessary work-life balance, but also encourages communication with colleagues from other departments, which is especially true for new employees.
