Svet za preventive in vzgojo v cestnem prometu Republike Slovenije (SPV) is a public organisation, founded in 1972. It is (partly) subsidised by the state budget as well as by the sponsorship of private companies.

SPV is the centre point for road safety prevention work in Slovenia, co-ordinator of the work at the local level and a co-ordination body for five main projects of the National Road Safety Programme (2003-2005) adopted by the Slovenian Parliament in 2002.

Main Activities of the SPV:

  • safety education for children and young adults
  • issueing brochures and informative leaflets, TV spots, films, texts for parents, teachers, and other target groups
  • professional and legal advice for authorities, associations, companies, local organizations
  • specials awareness campaigns, for example for the first day of school, DWI, speeding, for wearing helmets and using seat-belts
  • research work, analysis and evaluation studies in the field of road safety education, traffic psychology and law
  • international co-operation in the field of road safety
