KLPD is the Dutch National Police Agency. KLPD has a staff of about 5.500. KLPD hosts the national crime squad and a series of higly specialialised departments, like the police helicopter squad, the national technical support unit and the national communications centre. The "transport police" is also found within KLPD. Transport police is: maritime- and river police, railroad police, airpolice and traffic police. The traffic police is responsible for traffic enforcement on the Dutch motorways and for specialistic support to the 25 regional police forces. KLPD also hosts the national department for international police cooperation. KLPD has a long history od cooperation with external and/or international partners in the field of road safety. KLPD has coordinated a considerabale number of EU projects and also has joined a number of project as a partner.
KLPD is a part of the Dutch Ministry of Interior.
