Traffic signs and symbols

All official traffic signs and symbols are saved in a digital database. These signs and symbols comply with the regulations introduced by the Federal Ministry of Transport as well as the bodies of rules according to the 2017 traffic-sign catalog. The database is maintained by the Federal Highway Research Institute. The digital data are vector data with a resolution of 1/10,000 millimetres in the Federal Highway Research Institute's internal data format (DVKAZ). Unlike grid data, this format permits enlargement or reduction without any loss. Digitization is usually performed on a scale of 1:1. A program for conversion into standard EPS and DXF formats is included.
