Innovative sensor technology for joint systems

Modern measurement technology should help to determine the actual stress on joint systems in concrete road pavements. On behalf of the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt), a sensor system has been developed with which all relevant mechanical stress variables can be determined by measurement. This knowledge forms the basis for a scientifically sound engineering design of joint and joint filling systems that reliably and permanently achieve the required functionality. The results are to be incorporated into future regulations.
