Investigation of noise emission in real traffic

The determination of actual noise emissions is an essential prerequisite for targeted measures for the reduction of noise in road traffic. On behalf of the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt), an exemplary investigation of noise pollution under various conditions has now been carried out. The focus was on conspicuous noise peaks that are perceived as particularly stressful.

The investigations carried out exemplarily reflect the factors that lead to noise pollution under actual conditions in real traffic. The results are to be taken into account in the context of an adaptation of the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) respectively the Noise Abatement Guidelines.
