BASt develops guidelines for effective noise reduction in complex situations with more than one mode of transport
The overlapping of different traffic noise sources (accumulation) can lead to significant noise pollution. Whereas such complex situations were previously dealt with on a case-by-case basis, there is now a uniform approach for a cross-modal consideration, which was developed on behalf of the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt).
With the guide developed in the research project, a tool is now available for practical use, with which an assessment of an overall noise situation can be approached and suitable noise reduction measures can be systematically found. The guide is now to be tested and further developed in practice in a follow-up project.
