Recalculation of incentive bonuses for early completion for construction work on motorway work zones
Acceleration payments should provide incentives to keep construction times at motorway construction sites to a minimum. As the values previously specified in the regulations proved to be outdated, the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) initiated a revision of the table of costs for loss of use.
With the results of the study, updated tables of loss of use costs are available for work sites on 4-, 6- and 8-lane motorways. Compared with the previous HVA V-StB values, the loss of use costs are significantly higher, especially for construction sites on highly congested motorways that are particularly prone to traffic jams. The results of the study thus contribute to improving the effectiveness of bonus-malus regulations as an instrument for reducing the construction time for particularly critical traffic measures and motivate construction companies to accelerate road construction measures.
