Accessible travel with long-distance buses

Accessible travel is also to become standard in the future with long-distance buses. On behalf of the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt), a handbook has been developed to provide guidance to manufacturers, operators and users. In addition to the legal requirements, it contains recommendations on how to implement accessibility in buses, infrastructure and operation. An adaptation at European level is being sought.

It is to be expected that the handbook will contribute to the rapid dissemination of target-oriented solutions in the areas of vehicles, infrastructure and operation. The accessibility of regular long-distance bus services for all user groups will thus be sustainably improved.
