New map of KiST-Zones for RDO and RSO Asphalt
The actual temperature conditions in the asphalt layers play a major role in calculating the remaining service life of roads. On behalf of the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt), an improved KiST (climate-induced road temperature) zone map based on georeferenced data has now been developed. This enables a close-meshed assessment of the relevant influencing factors.
The extended KiST Zone Map is recommended for the application of RSO and RDO Asphalt at project level due to the required level of detail and the meaningful representation of the spatial distribution of the damage sums. When calculating the dimensions of asphalt road pavements, the results of the next-highest zone should always be used for densely built-up areas, sunny slopes and specially protected locations.
