Cycle highways: potentials, benefit-cost analysis and design elements

Cycle highways are designed to link important areas with correspondingly high potentials over greater distances. These cycle highways are primarily targeted at everyday bicycle traffic and aim to open up new user potentials, also against the background of the strongly increasing importance of electric bicycles. The study answers numerous questions on the design and construction of cycle highways. Its results serve as a basis for the revision of the technical regulations. The developed guideline provides important information and explanations for the concrete application of the potential analyses and benefit-cost analyses in order to facilitate their preparation by the planners themselves within the scope of planning for cycle highways.
