Continuous monitoring of road user safety behaviour
Represented are the results of the year 2020. The data in brackets refer to the year 2019.
In 2020, 98.1 (99.1) percent of adult car occupants wore seat belts. 94.4 (90.3) percent of the children were seated in a child restraint on rural roads and 91.2 (91.8) percent in built up areas. In the age group of children up to 5 years 98.9 (96.9) percent used an appropriate restraint system on rural roads and 95.9 (97.8) percent in build-up areas. In the group of children from the age of 6 years upwards, on rural roads 89.8 (85.2) percent and 87.4 (86.1) percent on built-up area roads were seated in a child restraint system.
97.6 (98.0) percent of the motorised two-wheel drivers wore safety helmets, 38.9 (18.7) percent wore complete motorcycle clothing.
Over all age groups, 26.2 (22.8) percent of the bicyclists used a helmet.
87.2 (87.8) percent of the lorry drivers wore seat belts.
